The unofficial results are in. My congratulations to Mick, Mike and Phyllis!

Well, I didn't win. I didn't really expect to. I was running against a popular incumbent and without any campaign expenses. To pull an upset like that would have been historic.

What did happen, though, was amazing to me. 249 votes were in my column. That means that 247 people (other than my household) voted for me. That is absolutely incredible to me. That 247 people either read about my thoughts on this website or saw me on TV or saw me at a neighborhood forum… and they liked what I had to say so much that they trusted me to make decisions for them? Wow. I'm truly honored. To those 247, whoever you are, I can't thank you enough.

Mick, Mike and Phyllis all won by taking roughly 70% of the vote in each race. My 249 votes accounted for about 6.5%.

In the next few days, I'll post my critique of the past two months – the things I've learned and the things I hope others consider in the future.

Again… My thanks to everyone that supported me, especially the 247.

Dustin, congratulations on 249 votes. To be honest, I am surprised you got that many since you didn't have the normal flyers and signs(and the 3 a day pre-recorded phone messages) that local politicians use. I hope that you will continue to be involved in local politics and run again next election. I also hope you will reconsider not having a campaign budget and not accepting contributions. I would have gladly donated to your campaign to help pay for yard signs and mailers, so that more League City voters could find out who you are. I appreciate the principles you have that led to your not spending money on your campaign, but the message you believe in is too important to keep quiet. I believe that by campaigning as you did and getting over 6% of the vote, you could get much more next time by getting your ideas in every League City home.
